THE UNSHAKEABLE KINGDOM

CNN, BBC, Aljazeera, Press TV and all the mega News media houses in the world will not allow a day go by without talking about arms, and the nuclear enrichment in Iran, and other nations of the world. In fact the way they say those news make me wonder if this people believe that God exist.

The religion crisis that shook Jos (Plateau State, Nigeria) and its environs makes me wonder, will God actually ask people to go and slaughter women and children (some are unborn babies) in his name. Selwyn Hughes once wrote “the terrorist attack on New York and Pentagon…prompted me to abandon what I had been considering and turn to the more relevant topic of the unshakeable kingdom. I don’t know how you felt at the time the tragedy took place but I would like to share with you briefly my own reactions. First I felt shock and anger that something so terrible could be done by people in the name of religion. Second, a deep compassion for the victims and the loved ones they left behind. Third, a strong sense of joy and gladness that I belong to kingdom that even the most power bomb or missile cannot shake, let alone demolish…”

The writer of Hebrew told the Jews in diaspora “therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful…” (Heb. 12: 28) to be born again is to be enlisted into God’s kingdom. Nations in the world are spending billions of dollars making and piling weapons of mass destruction, because they think they can protect their kingdoms. “We are living in an age when terrible weapons are being developed and the hearts of men everywhere are filled with fear. Who knows what will happen in years that lie ahead?”

The world is in chaos, and we can’t help than hold firm onto the promise of God that our kingdom cannot be shaken. The events in the world today always reveal that we cannot trust and look up to our government to protect us but God. The Russia bombing recently opened the eyes of many that terrorism is not only restricted to certain lands, but it is fast becoming universal. To show us that our kingdoms are fragile, God is shaken the kingdoms of this world. I strongly felt we should be thankful that we belong to a kingdom that cannot be shaken or moved.

History always reminds us that any kingdom not built on God’s standard and principles CANNOT stand. Ancient evil kingdoms and civilisation established kingdoms against God’s morals, and fought hard to removed God from every of their activities, where are they today? Great empires like Babylon, Assyria, Greece and Rome, where are they today? They are gone with the wind. The truth still remain that all those kingdoms were built on faulty and shakeable foundations. But ours, is a kingdom that CAN NEVER be shaken or removed because it is build on the foundation of Christ (1 Corinthians 3: 10-15; Isaiah 28: 16; Matthew 16: 18).

God is willing to make you His son or His daughter, why not give Him a chance. Selwyn Hughes wrote these powerful words “against the backdrop of world conditions the truth that we belong to an unshakeable kingdom must surely be one of the most steady thoughts we can cling to at this time. I do not consider myself to be a prophet but I predict that in the days that lie ahead we are going to witness the disintegration of many societies (kingdoms) were absolute truth and moral order is not a priority. It is inevitable, for any society (Kingdom) not established on principles that are in harmony with the universe (and I add, and to the principles of the maker of the universe-God) is bound to collapse.”

As Christians we will sometimes shake when we see and witness the events taking place in the world, we are to be rest assured that the kingdom we belong cannot be shaken. I encourage every Christian every where to stand by God’s promises and see the salvation of God; For He who is in us is more than he that is in the world (1 John 4: 4). And all we need to do is seek to live for God and to establish His righteousness wherever we find ourselves, doing this will give us more hope and joy.

Think about this “if you seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness you will still have to face problems, but if you don’t seek first the kingdom of God then you will have nothing but problems” (Professor Henry Drummond).

My prayer for you is that you will remain unshakeable, and if you have not yet make that decision to joy the Kingdom that CANNOT be shaken, my prayer for you is that God will give you more grace to make that decision today before it becomes too late.
